We’re delighted to announce that we’ve started work on a custom Moodle Workplace LMS for Network Rail, owner and infrastructure manager of the UK railway network. The new system will provide Network Rail with a single learning platform unifying content creation and distribution, payment handling, analysis and reporting for a large user base.
To succeed in the bidding process, we were required to submit detailed evidence of how our services would meet the core criteria of accessibility, configurability, futureproofing and cost-effectiveness laid out by Network Rail, as well as guaranteeing delivery of the project within a strict timescale, and providing substantial training and ongoing technical support.
Moodle Workplace’s multi-tenancy capabilities allow the creation of multiple sub-platforms for individual regions of the UK, allowing the day-to-day management of learning and development to be devolved to local teams, and the powerful reporting tools built into the platform will allow Network Rail to make data-driven decisions on every aspect of how the platform is used, identifying and eliminating waste at every stage of the process.
The biggest impacts of the move to Moodle Workplace are the increased efficiency, effectiveness and economy of the courses provided by Network Rail, as well as the ongoing benefit of retaining more motivated and better-trained staff throughout the organisation. Worker and customer safety is one of the highest priorities within the transport industry, and the new Moodle Workplace platform will allow Network Rail to better serve this goal, through enhanced and more widely available training.
Due to launch in 2020, the Network Rail Moodle platform will initially be trialled by an advance group of users across regions, with a full rollout to be expected in the following months.
Seb Francis, Co-founder and Director of Titus Learning commented on the project: “For large scale, mission critical implementations such as the Network Rail learning management system, Moodle Workplace offers the performance, scalability and security features needed to provide constant access and availability for all users, complemented by a customised interface which is intuitive and adaptive, personalising the software to each individual learner. We’re delighted to be working with Network Rail on this new chapter in their workplace learning journey, and excited about our future partnership.”
Martin Dougiamas, founder and CEO of Moodle added – “I’m so happy to see Network Rail joining an impressive list of organisations taking advantage of the new Moodle Workplace solution via Titus Learning, one of our certified Moodle Partners.
