Meet The Team – Luke

In this instalment of our Meet The Team series, we introduce Head of Sales, Luke. 

Here, he gives us some background on his previous work experiences with eLearning, and how he sees the sector developing in future, as well as some insight into his interests outside of the business.

How long had you been working with eLearning before joining Titus?

Upon leaving University, I started working in the eLearning arena in 2009. This mainly involved working with secondary schools/academies on LMS implementation and development. In 2014 I moved to head up a team which was less focused on software, more on hardware and onsite support. This gave me a good overview of the challenges organisations face in procuring and then managing the hardware they use.

Which areas of eLearning interest you the most?

I love to see solutions shaped to fit specific needs. When you’re working with something as powerful as Moodle it’s fascinating to see how it can be moulded and customised to suit organisation’s individual requirements. Whilst all organisations will have similarities, each is very unique in its own way and each will have a different expectation of what Moodle or Moodle Workplace can bring.

What was it that attracted you to the role at Titus?

The ability to have a real impact on a company that is close to my heart. Rather than being ‘just a number’ in a larger team, I feel I can make a real difference here with my experience and knowledge.

What do you enjoy most about working at Titus?

Working internationally. The majority of my work so far has been UK based, which I love. However, the option to work and travel internationally was one which appealed to me on a number of levels. With Titus extensive client base I loving having the opportunity to work with organisations across the globe.

What do you think has been the biggest shift with eLearning during your 11 years in the sector?

I would suggest one of the biggest changes or shifts has been integrating learning platforms with other applications such as office software, HR systems and payment systems. Having a genuine ‘one stop shop’ for all things related to learning and development is now a viable option.

How do you see the eLearning sector developing over the next few years?

The increasing ease of creating and manipulating course content will see an upturn in growth. Course creators have less and less free time to work on high quality courses, so using technology to remove some of the barriers and handle simple administration tasks allows them to focus their efforts where they make the most impact. The emergence of tools such as H5P will continue and bring further success to online learning.

What are your interests outside of the office?

I’m a season ticket holder at Bradford City (so it’s nice to be based a few minutes down the road from Valley Parade). Love socialising with friends and my wife. I’m quite a foodie - but luckily I’m regularly at the gym, or walking my best mate Ralph the whippet, which keeps me in shape. You could also say I’m a semi-professional best man - last year I was awarded the mantle for the third time!

Phuong Nguyen Hong

Digital Marketing Executive

Super talented, unflappable and very funny, Phuong supports the whole marketing team in her role as Digital Marketing Executive. Phuong holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and recently completed a master’s degree in Management and Marketing. Originally from Hanoi in Vietnam, Phuong is now based in the UK and climatising brilliantly to our weather and food.

Phuong owns a food review Instagram page as travelling and food are her passion. She also has a cute little french bulldog.

Ellie Sharkey

Head of Marketing

Ellie was the first woman to join Titus and has paved the way for many more since then. After studying for a degree in Fashion and Marketing, Ellie was lucky to find herself at fashion weeks and photoshoots.

Now she’s switched from talk of the front row to front end design and has brought loads of transferable knowledge to Titus. Ellie has also found a real passion for tech, especially in the learning sector, helping clients create positive change for their organisations.

Callum Barrett

Senior Brand Executive

As one of the youngest people at Titus but at the same time one of the oldest serving members of the team, Callum has graced Titus with his broad smile and positive attitude for over 5 years now. As a key member of the marketing team, Callum works across all areas, both on and offline, to ensure that all Titus brands and communication are on point.

After missing out on the opportunity to go to University the first time around, management encouraged him to enrol in our course alongside his work. He is now studying to achieve his Level 6 Diploma in Professional Digital Marketing.

Dec Connolly

Acquisition Marketing Manager

Always bringing innovation and new ideas, Dec studied a degree in Journalism but found his passion in digital marketing. Dec has also worked in marketing for one of the countries biggest retailers and within the property sector.

Outside work, Dec Co-founded a news publication where he collaborated with global brands like Uber, Amazon, BooHoo and countless SMEs.
