The British Psychological Society (BPS) is a registered charity which acts as the representative body for psychology and psychologists in the UK. As part of its remit, the society offers professional development opportunities, accreditation and qualifications to its membership of more than 60,000.
In mid-2019, BPS, working with digital transformation specialists Difrent (difrent.co.uk), identified a need to develop and implement a new learning management system which would provide a unified hub for the provision of CPD, Apprenticeships, Education & Training and Organisational Development. Following a rigorous tender process, Titus was selected as the most qualified supplier for the project.
Titus designed a bespoke solution based around the Moodle Workplace platform which would be hosted in the Amazon Web Services cloud. The platform composed of several key elements:
- Integration with IntelliBoard to allow BPS to make data-driven decisions on every aspect of how the platform is used, identifying and eliminating waste at every stage of the process.
- Implementation of IntelliCart, an ecommerce solution which allows BPS to monetise its online courses and handle payments, invoicing and financial reporting through the Moodle Workplace platform.
- Custom integrations to allow the new LMS to link up seamlessly with the existing BPS website and current membership system
The new LMS will impact on several areas of operations within BPS. Moodle Workplace allows BPS to offer a blended CPD programme combining both their own internal content and resources from third party providers.
In terms of education and training, BPS is able to explore alternative types of qualifications, access to new markets, and innovative delivery methods. With the advanced reporting tools available they’ll be able to ensure that they maintain audit compliance, including monitoring of financial transactions.
Registrations for apprenticeships, and tracking the progress and attainment of those apprenticeships can be managed via Moodle Workplace. And BPS staff will be able to use the platform as a learning portal where they can undertake their own professional development and sign off against any key policies or compliance documents.
Peta-Marche Fee, Head of Professional Development & Assessment at BPS commented on the project: “Our new VLE will equip the Society with the platform to provide CPD, qualifications and end-point assessments for apprentices in a flexible and interactive way, reaching to our members and the wider workforce not only in the United Kingdom but also internationally.”
Luke Tillotson, Head of Sales at Titus added: “The project had a number of key components to ensure effectiveness, including; rapid scalability, bespoke integration with 3rd party systems and in-depth business intelligence and reporting, which is why we selected Moodle Workplace as the perfect solution to meet the requirements. We’re delighted to be partnering with the BPS to deliver the project, and are excited to see our relationship grow over the coming years.”
