One of our technical partners, Overnet Data, has just released a new Moodle Homework block which simplifies setting, submitting and grading both online and paper-based assignments, along with a new module for Edulink users to better manage exam timetables.
Moodle homework block
The new Moodle homework block allows teachers to better plan homework tasks ahead of time, and gives them a central location to upload all supporting documents and media needed for a given task.
Comprehensive reports can be generated within a few clicks, providing staff with an overview of progress both at the class and individual level, and can be exported for offline use.
Alternatively, teachers can drill down to view completion data on an individual assignment, student by student.
Senior managers benefit from staff usage reports to keep a handle on how the block is being used, and the evidence provided is invaluable for demonstrating compliance with the OFSTED framework.
From the student’s point of view, a single view shows all homework instructions, deadlines, and links to the necessary supporting documents, so there’s no room for confusion.
Once they have submitted an assignment, it is automatically marked as complete, and even paper-based homework can be manually added to the system, allowing them to manage their own progress effectively.
Parents too can benefit from email updates whenever new homework is posted, although this feature does require that the school use Edulink Communicator
Alongside the Titus Learning Moodle theme, the new homework block represents an important step in making the Moodle interface more engaging and intuitive for K12 students.
The free Moodle homework block can be downloaded here, however, if you’d like to find out more about the features, or need help setting up and installing the block, get in touch with us.
New Edulink module for exam timetables
Schools using Edulink to share SIMS data between parents, teachers and students now have access to a new module designed to simplify the sometimes fraught experience of managing exam timetables.
The module allows EduLink to extract relevant data from SIMS on the dates, locations and times of exams for individual candidates.
The result is a clear view of the exam timetable, updated with any changes in real time, and accessible to both the student and their parents or guardians.
