Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) is an independent international medical humanitarian organisation that delivers emergency aid in more than 70 countries.
MS was already using online learning to support its remit to educate and inform healthcare workers operating around the globe. However, their existing Moodle-based platform lacked some of the advanced features needed to ensure ease of use, and efficiently manage training and assessment.
Our partnership with Médecins Sans Frontières will see Titus assist with migrating their site from their legacy provider. We are providing Moodle consultancy and training to support the new site, as well as plugin support, and the implementation of a custom Titus theme.
It is one of the major training providers for a range of health professionals within the UK and, as part of its remit, is actively engaged in influencing the agenda regarding research and development of the national health industry. Beyond this, it is one of the six centres within the UK used by Defence Medical Services, an umbrella organisation within the Ministry of Defence.
The Trust was using a standard Moodle installation to provide training resources to their staff. However, it needed to expand its capabilities to increase process automation to save administrative resources and multi-tenancy capabilities to provide different learning experiences to various departments. In 2020, they commissioned Titus to provide them with a custom Moodle LMS solution to accommodate their 8000+ learners.
Our work with Médecins Sans Frontières is supporting them to deliver effective and engaging training to medical professionals anywhere in the world.
To ensure high uptake and engagement from their diverse user base, MSF required a novice-friendly platform which would reduce the need for training.
To reduce onboarding time, Titus implemented a custom theme, designed using core UXD principles, to create an intuitive and accessible interface.
Our consultancy and training topics focused on custom functionality which had been included in the MSF Moodle to achieve specific organisational goals.
This included the Moodle Zoom plugin for integrated in-platform video calling, and the Certification module to manage prerequisites for course enrolments and awards.
A key element of the project plan was the successful migration of a significant volume of MSF content from their legacy Synergy site to the new Moodle.
Titus provided an end-to-end service including extraction of the required data, backups, migration to the new site and full testing to ensure completeness.
