JTL

Empowering the next generation of building
apprentices with JTL Training

JTL is the leading provider of work-based learning in the building services engineering industry across England & Wales. They serve over 8,000 apprentices and 3,400 employers via their 13 training centres based across the UK.

Notably, they accommodate off the job training and knowledge elements of apprenticeship programmes. This consists of classroom and practical based education as well as monitoring and assessing apprentices in the workplace.

The Challenge

Prior to their partnership with Titus, JTL were facing significant challenges with their existing LMS platforms. Numerous departments across the business were using various different training software to varying degrees of success.

Despite the implementation of a number of different online learning initiatives it was clear that none of them were fit for purpose to meet the requirements of JTL’s evolving base of users.

Paramount to the success of any new platform would be the option to create multiple tenants so they could provide a tailored learning solution to meet the needs of a diverse range of users across the JTL group.

The Solution

Together with Titus they launched their online learning portal LEDA (Learn, Educate, Develop, Advance) in order to expand their reach and better serve the learning requirements of their diverse range of students.

In order to deliver high-quality, relevant content to the multiple user bases in the JTL network, JTL took advantage of the robust multi-tenancy feature of Moodle Workplace.

This allowed them to set up customised tenants under the LEDA umbrella, with each tenant offering a customised learning experience for each user based on their progression within the group. Moreover this promotes an initiative of lifelong learning and fosters a culture of continuous development and growth.

“We realised our existing Learning Management Systems fell short in meeting diverse needs across JTL. With a complex web of systems spanning JTL, Titus offered the perfect solution – Moodle Workplace with multi tenancy.”

The Outcome

Since its launch the LEDA platform has experienced high levels of engagement amongst JTL’s apprentice learners. The platform is now being used on six continents and 56 countries, being available in 44 languages, hosting over 13k users, and growing.

In particular, of the 30,000 Alumni on the JTL database, who have attained the COMPEX qualification, a significant proportion have gone on to view and complete 100% of the content uploaded to the platform by JTL, thus demonstrating the accessibility afforded to these users through the e-learning platform.

Furthermore the LEDA Platform was nominated as a finalist in the prestigious British Training Awards in the “Learning Platform of the year” category.
