Introducing Idun 1.8.0

We’re thrilled to introduce Idun 1.8.0, the latest update to our theme suite that brings a fresh wave of enhancements to your learning experience.

Including transformative updates to the Learning Library, this update sets new standards for usability, engagement, and customisation.

Here's what's new and how it benefits you:

A Smarter, More Intuitive Learning Library

With enhanced navigation and filtering, finding the right learning materials has never been easier. Custom filters, featured learning sections, and the all new Learning Tabs feature mean your users can quickly access what matters most to them, boosting engagement and reducing time spent searching.

The new Learning tabs feature allows users to customise their learning experience by allowing them to view recommended, new and bookmarked learning via the Learning Library. Furthermore, users can select where these tabs appear on the learning library, depending on their own unique priorities.

Estimated Course Durations for better time management

Set and display estimated course durations directly on course tiles, helping learners to explore content available to them in more detail, and to make more informed decisions around managing their own workload.

Admins have the ability to decide whether course durations are displayed directly on the course tiles or as a filter in the learning library.

Tailored Search with Custom Library Filters

Administrators now have full control over library filters, allowing them to configure search options based on course custom fields.

Filters are added by creating new course custom fields using the ‘checkbox’ or ‘dropdown’ field type. Administrators can control the sitewide visibility and display order of these custom fields as they appear in the ‘Additional fields’ area of the library.

This means learners can personalise their experience by filtering courses in a way that suits their needs.

Find & Plan Learning Events More Easily

With improved events search and display, users can now view full dates on course tiles and use a new date/time range selector to plan their learning journey more effectively.

In addition to this, the learning library now gives users the ability to filter their course searches by date and time range, allowing them to search more effectively for courses that have been set up as events on the platform.

Unlike previous versions of the theme, admins now have the ability to choose whether or not events are displayed on the learning library if the event date has passed.

Spotlight on Key Courses with Featured Learning

Highlighting priority courses is now effortless. The new ‘Featured’ functionality allows you to showcase important content in a prominent slideshow or within a dedicated Featured Learning Block, ensuring must-see courses never go unnoticed.

The featured learning slideshow will only be shown to a user if they have the permission to view a course, regardless of whether they are enrolled or not, meaning the featured courses are displayed to the right users at the right time.

Dynamic Course Banners for a Personalised Experience

We’ve addressed a key customer pain point with upgraded course banner images. Now, banners dynamically reflect user progress, course ratings, and key stats based on the user’s role.

Plus, Course Editors now have the ability to upload custom banner images and control which part of the image is displayed, allowing for images with a more suitable aspect ratio to be used as banners and ensuring your courses will always look their best.

An Enhanced Login Page

Elevate your login page with our brand new video feature. You can now use MP4 video files as your login page background, adding an extra element to your overall platform branding and creating a more engaging experience for your users.
