Global Banking School is a higher education provider delivering vocational, undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in banking, finance, accounting, business, tourism, healthcare – and more, in partnership with a range of UK educational institutions. Their aim is to widen access to higher education among groups which are traditionally under-represented in this sector.
GBS had been offering online learning via Moodle for a number of years, but with significant expansion plans on the horizon, they approached Titus to develop and implement a more robust solution which would be capable of handling a significant increase in their learner base, a greater number of concurrent users and a growing number of educational partnerships.
Titus developed a custom Moodle platform for GBS with a purpose-designed theme which would make it easy for their in-house teams to add new partner organisations and course content as these developed. The new LMS was hosted in the Titus AWS cloud to ensure high availability and performance, even under load.
Our work with GBS focused not only on their current requirements, but on ensuring the Moodle solution we provided would support their longer-term growth plans..
GBS are expecting to expand their learner base to around 25,000 in the coming months, with the potential for thousands of concurrent users at peak times.
The new Moodle LMS benefits from elastic scaling capabilities, ensuring that server resources are scaled up when needed, and scaled back when not, to control costs.
As GBS is in the process of acquiring a university license, which will give the School degree-awarding powers, they were keen to ensure the user experience would be comparable to leading university LMS sites.
We developed a custom-branded theme inspired by the GBS visual identity to ensure that users of the Moodle site would have a consistent brand experience.
As well as the aesthetic of the new site, GBS were keen to make the user journey as simple as possible, to streamline onboarding and reduce training costs.
Titus designed and implemented the Moodle interface based on the latest UXD research to ensure that users and administrators alike could navigate the platform and perform relevant tasks quickly and easily, in as few clicks as possible.
