About Superdry

Founded in the UK in 2003, Superdry is a global fashion brand with over 150 stores and 2500 employees across Europe and the United States, a strong online presence, and wholesale and licensing partnerships worldwide. The company offers a range of clothing and accessories with a focus on style, quality and sustainability.

"We've built really honest, open communication between Titus and Superdry. There's a humanness to it, which, because I'm not a technical person, I needed. That real conversation around what we needed to do has been crucial to how our site has evolved and improved."

The Challenge

Superdry, a fast-growing retailer with over 5,000 employees in 53 countries, faced several challenges with their previous LMS. These challenges included:

  • Limited reporting capabilities that made it difficult to track training progress
  • Poor user experience, including difficult login processes
  • Lack of customisation and branding, which lowered employee engagement
  • Ineffective management of mandatory compliance training, especially during stricter COVID-19 health and safety regulations

To overcome these issues, Superdry needed a new LMS that could:

  • Replace their old system with a flexible and scalable platform
  • Deliver and track mandatory compliance training across all locations efficiently
  • Provide on-demand soft skills and technical skills training to support career growth
  • Improve overall user experience and adoption with a branded, easy-to-use interface

Moodle Workplace was chosen to meet these requirements, enabling Superdry to better manage and deliver training worldwide.

Why Superdry Chose Titus

Superdry selected Titus because of:

  • Human-first collaborative approach
  • Commitment to transparency and open communication
  • Flexible best-fit solutions rather than off-the-shelf products

The Solution

Phase 1: Shinpo (V1) Foundation and Compliance

The first version named Shinpo (meaning “progress” in Japanese) focused on resolving key issues:

  • Fixing login difficulties for a smooth learner experience
  • Customising the platform branding and naming
  • Rolling out mandatory compliance courses including data protection and diversity training

Outcome: Improved learner access and clear compliance reporting established a solid foundation for further development.

Phase 2: People Hub (V2) Embedding Learning Culture

With the basics in place, Superdry aimed to embed the LMS as a resource beyond initial training:

  • Introduced refresher training cycles for compliance
  • Added courses focusing on managers wellbeing and DEI
  • Curated on-demand soft skills and technical training to foster employee growth

Outcome: This phase delivered the company’s highest-ever compliance completion rate of 95% alongside increased learner engagement and frequent platform usage driven by curated content.

Phase 3: People Hub (V3) Learner-Centred Ecosystem

The latest iteration focuses on making learning a core part of work life:

  • Addressing retail-specific language, legal, and compliance needs
  • Switching content providers for greater flexibility and relevance
  • Integrating Moodle Workplace with other HR and business technologies
  • Creating a truly learner-centric, interactive learning environment

This evolution transforms Superdry’s platform from a compliance tool into a dynamic learning ecosystem empowering every employee.

The Results

Since implementing Moodle Workplace, Superdry has transformed its approach to learning and compliance, achieving significant improvements across key areas:

  • Achieved the highest compliance rates in Superdry’s history, with head office compliance soaring to 97%
  • Maintained regular learner engagement through curated on-demand content, supporting diverse learning styles and self-guided learning
  • Adopted a scalable platform that supports a diverse global workforce and allows blended learning (in-person and online)
  • Positioned Learning & Development as a strategic enabler that drives company culture and growth
  • Improved user experience and platform adoption, thanks to easier access, better tracking, and a branded interface

The platform’s flexibility, combined with support from Titus, has allowed Superdry to quickly adapt to changing business needs during a period of transition. Moodle Workplace has also enabled Superdry to expand its training offerings beyond compliance, including soft skills development and targeted content for initiatives such as Pride and Black History Month.

Looking ahead, Superdry plans to extend Moodle Workplace to retail teams to streamline compliance training and introduce on-demand soft skills development. They will also implement multi-language and accessibility features to support their global, inclusive workforce.
