Welcome to the latest edition of “My Path to Titus,” where we talk to our Titans, about how they got to Titus, what their roles are like, and even some tips on how to prepare for interviews.
This week we spoke with Bleu Carlisle – the talented baker and project coordinator at Titus. Learn how Bleu’s career took her from being a dental nurse for 8 years into the world of eLearning
What do you do at Titus?
I am the Project and Compliance Coordinator. My role is to ensure our team is on track alongside managing our biggest ongoing internal projects being our ISO9001 and ISO27001 accreditations. A big part of my role is identifying and implementing process improvements across the business. I also manage the facilities and maintain supplier management and relationships.
Can you tell us a bit about your background?
Coming from a background in healthcare I spent 8+ years as a registered dental nurse before managing a group of private dental practices across Bradford.
What’s your typical workday like?
If I’m not doing internal audits or following up on actions from audits, I’m looking at improvements that have been identified across the business and working with the wider team to see if or how we can implement these. My working day is varied and can often be challenging – but I enjoy the variety my role offers. One day I could be working through the Risk Register and the next day I could be planning a new office layout and ordering furniture
How do the past experiences support your work at Titus?
Customer focus was a massive part of my previous role in healthcare, which has allowed me to focus on the customer in all aspects of my role. Everything I do in relation to our ISO accreditations involves identifying areas for improvement across the business, which ultimately impacts our customers and improves the quality of the work we produce.
What’s your daily source of inspiration?
This might sound like a typical ‘mum’ thing to say but my son is my daily source of inspiration. Watching him push through his daily battles with Autism, ADHD and Dyslexia only encourages and inspires me to be the best version of myself, and reminds me to keep going! If he can do it, so can I!
Are you working on any projects outside of work?
I have my own home baking business called Out of The Bleu (@outofthebleuest2021 which started as a hobby. I have recently registered with the council and I’m awaiting my hygiene inspection so I have a lot of preparation and studying to do for this. I’m currently looking to rebrand and build a website (all with help from my wonderful Titus colleagues of course!)
How did you prepare for your Titus interviews?
I was asked to do a presentation for my 2nd stage interview. I was so nervous as I had never had to do anything like this before but I am so glad I was asked to do it! It made me step out of my comfort zone. It meant I did my research on Titus to find out what they provided, I looked into the background to see how Titus was born. I looked at their values, familiarised myself with current Titus employees, and tried to get a feel for the culture. I looked at the job description to see what the expectations were and documented what skills I had to deliver those expectations. My advice to anyone applying for a role with Titus is to just be yourself.
What advice would you give to your past self?
Don’t overthink!
Stress less! (but it’s never going to happen haha)
Believe in yourself. You’ve got this, always!
Any tips for aspiring Titans?
As hard as it might be to move out of a comfortable situation, don’t stay there if it makes you unhappy! Good things often come from being uncomfortable and stepping away from what you know…
Just go for it – what have you got to lose?
