Our vision is to see excellent surgical care for everyone.

Supporting the NHS and Royal College of Surgeons through COVID-19.

The Royal College of Surgeons (RCS) is a registered charity and professional membership organisation of over 25,000 that promotes and advances standards of surgical care for patients.

Since 2018 Titus has acted as a support and maintenance partner for the RCS Moodle LMS. In April 2020, Titus was selected to implement a new Moodle LMS to meet unprecedented demand for online content to train healthcare professionals in reducing the impact of COVID. The mission-critical nature of the project meant that the LMS had to be designed, configured, tested and launched successfully within a five-day window.

And in 2022 RCS decided to fully migrate their Moodle sites to the Titus AWS hosting environment, to facilitate a more integrated support and management service, and to improve performance, security and reliability for the two Moodle instances.

At a glance

Moodle LMS — helping to support professional excellence.

As our relationship with RCS has developed over the past 3 years, we’ve increased our involvement in the running of their Moodle sites, giving us more control over the performance and usability of the systems.

A comprehensive support wrap

With the RCS Moodle sites now to be hosted on Titus cloud infrastructure, we’ll be able to provide a much more integrated remote management and support service.

As well as monitoring the applications, implementing upgrades and providing technical support we proactively advise on maximising usage and engagement.

Enterprise-grade performance

The main RCS Moodle site now benefits from the same advanced hosting capabilities which ensured high availability for the COVID Moodle platform.

Built on Amazon Web Services, our cloud hosting package offers elastic scaling and load balancing, eliminating downtime even in periods of high demand.

Highly secure and stable solution

Our system architecture is designed with security as a priority, including threat detection, data encryption in transit and at rest, and application hardening.

We also have automated recovery functionality in place which can restore Moodle from a recent backup in minutes, with minimal disruption for users.
