The British International School Awards are to be held next January at the Grand Connaught Rooms in London’s Covent Garden. The awards celebrate innovation in strategic, financial and educational projects within British international schools.

Organised by British International Schools magazine with the support of ISC Research, they celebrate the groundbreaking work which is being done by schools around the world, and showcase what British education has to offer on the global stage.

We’re particularly pleased to see a number of schools with whom we’ve worked either directly or indirectly among the nominees, and wish each of them the best of luck for January. Here’s a few words from the schools themselves on what the nominations mean to them.

Dulwich College Beijing: “Outstanding Initiative leading to Creativity in Learning”

Dulwich College Beijing is delighted to be shortlisted for a BIS Award, particularly in the category of Outstanding Initiative Leading to Creativity in Learning. Creativity is a major focus for us as a British International School in Asia and we have been trying to give the responsibility over to our learners.

Our Approaches to Learning curriculum is now student driven and applicable to real world problems, culminating in student-led Year 9 trips for over 100 students, from planning of transport, catering and communications, through to budgeting, accommodation choice, service activities and media response.

We are very proud of these young students and will adopt this pattern in other year groups moving forward.

Jerudong International School: “Outstanding Strategic Initiative”

We aspire to achieve excellence, and being recognised as worthy of consideration for one of these rewards amongst the best international schools in the world is a pretty excellent achievement by any measure.

A forgotten campus fringe on the verge of desertification has become our Outdoor Discovery Centre. Harnessing our community resources to make our school environment uplifting, purposeful and fruitful has been a transformative experience for all involved. Human beings are like plants, we are all different and have different needs, but we grow better when we work together.
